Have you ever thought about what you want to happen to your body when you pass away? For some, they know exactly what they want, whether it be burned to ash and spread over a place that they love, or buried in the ground, dressed to the nines with a nice casket.
If you haven’t decided yet, you might want to consider a third option: having your ashes preserved in glass. Seattle-based Artful Ashes is a company that has decided to put a bit of a spin on the traditional means of passing on one’s legacy, and it comes in the form of mixing together one’s ashes with a creative dose of glass.
“Our artists, capture the essence of your beloved family members spirit in a swirl of color and ashes, within beautiful glass art,” reads their Facebook page.
The company was started by Greg and Christina, a married couple that wanted to do something special when Greg’s grandfather passed away.
“We just realized that everyone is looking for a way to hold onto the memories of their lost loved ones,” said Greg. “The clients that buy these – it brings up the happy thoughts and the happy times.”
That’s when they came up with the idea to mix his grandfather’s ashes in with a colorful mix of glass and texturing. Prospective clients seeking one of their glass orbs or hearts choose which colors and textures they would like and then Greg and Christina go to work.
